One-of-a-Kind Cedar Wood Sculpture by Artist Jess Alice A family of owls emerges from a single cedar log in this one-of-a-kind, 3-foot chainsaw-carved sculpture. A full-dimensional owl perches prominently at the top of the natural log, its layered wings and feather detailing creating a strong sculptural silhouette. Hidden throughout the base are three baby owls, individually relief-carved into the timber as playful “peek-a-boos,” giving the piece unexpected details to discover from different sides. Rather than removing the natural character of the log, the composition celebrates it.
Areas of exposed cedar, original surface texture, knots, grain, and natural markings remain visible throughout the base, creating a striking contrast between the raw timber and the carefully carved owls. Individually chainsaw-carved and finished by artist Jess Alice, burned detailing creates depth throughout the feathers and recessed areas while warm natural cedar highlights bring dimension to each owl.

ONE OF A KIND No molds. No mass production. Each Jess Alice sculpture begins with an individual piece of timber and is carved by hand, allowing the natural characteristics of the log to become part of the finished artwork. From the grain and knots to the original shape and markings of the timber, these natural variations ensure that no two sculptures will ever be exactly alike.
NATURAL CEDAR & NATURAL CRACKING Solid wood continues to respond to its environment after carving. As cedar naturally expands and contracts with changes in temperature and humidity, checking, cracks, and small separations may develop or change over time. These are normal characteristics of solid-wood sculpture and are not considered defects. They become part of the evolving character of the timber and contribute to the individuality of each piece.
CARE & DISPLAY For the longest life, protected or covered placement is recommended whenever possible. When displayed outdoors, periodically apply an appropriate exterior wood sealer according to the manufacturer's directions to help protect the wood and finish from moisture and UV exposure. Avoid prolonged contact with standing water or persistently wet ground. Natural checking generally does not require repair. Larger checks may be stabilized or professionally filled if desired.
